Nasi Dagang or literally the
‘trader’s rice’ is an iconic food in Terengganu. The rice is richly infused
with coconut milk eaten with tuna curry and light vegetable pickles. Famous Mak
Ngah Nasi Dagang or might be the number one delicious Nasi dagang in Terengganu
or in Malaysia, located in Kuala Terengganu, a small stall about 2km from Kuala
Ibai Bridge, by the road of Chendering(heading towards Kuantan), Is one you
cannot afford to miss? By 11:00am everything is sold out.
From Kuala Ibai Bridge
(View from side of road at Mak Ngah Nasi Dagang)
The stall capacity can hold about
100 customer in one times, its might look small but the customers that visit
this stall a day is estimated about over than the stall capacity can hold, plus
the customer line up to take home the
Nasi Dagang.
Always full of customers
For your information Nasi Dagang
at this stall is serve by hand palm because the workers will only serve the
nasi dagang on the “Daun Pisang” or banana leaves and were hold during the
worker lay the nasi dagang dish inside the “Daun PIsang” and will be deliver to
the customer table. It’s really unique and still keep the traditional way that
the malay people long ago practice.
Mak Ngah prepared Nasi Dagang for customers
The rice just nice, the rice texture
not hard, not dries, and not grease too much, just enough taste as Nasi
Dagang. Tuna fish mostly “Ikan Tongkol”
or “Ikan AYe” said by Terengganu people, are the main dishes that must be eat
with Nasi Dagang that will be crumbled to pieces and delightfully when chew with the Nasi Dagang. A dish of Nasi
Dagang is about rm3. Honestly, the prices are quite affordable, if the price about Rm5.00 or Rm6.00 it still worth to eat it and buy it.
Good looking delicious Nasi Dagang
If you remember the controversies
that hit the Mak Ngah Nasi Dagang about few years ago, the issue of the tuna
head or “Ikan Aye head” I think I t just on purpose to get publicity from media in order to promote the stall or mybe just coincidental happen on other reason that we does not know. But the controversies does not make the business fall but rise the Mak Ngah Nasi Dagang name around the Malaysia.
"RM 45.00" Just history
One more dish that available at Mak Ngah Nasi Dagang is “Keropok Lekor”
Keropok Lekor delicious when dip into the sauce prepared
